Professional music instruction includes one half hour of private instruction each week. Tuition is $94.00 per month for all instruments. Lessons are offered every day of the week, please ask for available times. Advanced instruction programs are available, please inquire for details.

Teacher Profiles

Mr. Mike Barder
Piano

Mike graduated with a Bachelors of Music from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2006 and has taught at Fairview Music for six years. He started his music education at Fairview Music in 1995, studying under Tyson Bennet. He has had experience performing in classical, rock and jazz ensembles. Mike has been a repair technician and sales associate at Fairview Music for over nine years.


Mr. Terry Bartolotta
Guitar and Bass

Terry graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Jazz Performance and is currently pursing his graduate degree in Jazz Performance from DePaul University. He is a recipient of “Best Rhythm Section Player” Award from the Birch Creek Music Performance Camp and the “Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.” Terry has performed at several conferences including the 2006 Jazz Educators Conference and in several local jazz ensembles.


Ms. Sara Borucki
Voice and Piano

Sarah has 15 years of piano experience accompanied by 10 years of vocal experience. She currently attends the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University under the tutelage of Tracy Watson. She has performed in leading roles in such productions as the U.S. Premiere of G.F. Handel’s Opera Silla and appears in various musical theatre performances in the Chicagoland area. She was awarded the Bella Voice Award at the 2008 Bel Conto Foundation Competition. Sarah has taught for 5 years and has extensive experience providing music instruction to seniors


Mr. Pat Burke
Guitar, Bass Guitar, Upright Bass and Mandolin

Pat completed his Associate’s in Arts at College of DuPage in 2003 in Music. He has studied under ensemble director Tom Tallman, bassist Rich Armandi, and guitarist Chris Winters and has performed with several local jazz and rock ensembles. Pat currently performs as a mandolin player in a string quartet.

 

Mr. Clark Colby
Woodwinds, Brass and Piano

Clark received his Bachelor of Music Education for Public School Teaching and Music Education Teaching Certificate for grades k-12 from College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio in 2003. He has over eight years teaching experience and instructs various community projects, jazz ensembles, and marching bands. He is currently also employed as the Band Director for District 130 East Bands in Blue Island, Illinois.

 

Mr. Clete Davis
Violin, Pipe Organ, Harpsichord, and Piano

Clete has 38 years of teaching experience in classical violin. He has performed with several symphonies and orchestras including the Skokie Symphony, Elmhurst Symphony, Hinsdale Opera Pit Orchestra and Hinsdale Chamber Orchestra. He earned his Bachelors of Arts in Violin Performance from University of Arizona in 1962. Clete has taught at Fairview Music for eight years. Clete uses materials by Suzuki, Wohlfart, Mazas, Sevcek, Kreutzer, Flesch, and a standard repertoire of solo works from all periods.

 

Mr. James Calderone
Piano

Mr. Calderone is the founder of Fairview Music and has been instructing piano for 39 years. He studied at Rizzo College of Music and has eight years of experience teaching at the grade school level. Many of his students go on to develop professional music careers in performance and teaching. Mr. Calderone’s students also have earned several awards and merits at state and national competitions including the Illinois Music Association Competition and the Grandquist Music Competition.

 

Mrs. Amie Guglielmo
Piano, Trumpet and Harp

Amie over 25 years of musical experience and has been awarded in various musical competitions, recital and performance groups. She received her Masters of Arts from National-Lewis University in 2004 and her Bachelors of Arts in 1999.

Mr. Kevin Johnston
Drums

Kevin has taught drums at Fairview Music for over eight years. He has performed professionally for over 25 years including for artists such as Buddy Guy. He performs live as well as a session player.

 

Mr. Dan Larson
Guitar, Classical Guitar, and Bass

Dan received his Bachelors of Arts in Music with a focus in Classical Guitar in 2007. He has studied in Cordoba, Spain at the Festival Internacional de la Guitarra/Cordoba and attended Master class study with David Russell and Pavel Steidl. Dan has also studied at the Conservatory in Santiago, Spain under Jose Luis Rodrigo. Dan performs as a local performer and studio musician.

 

Miss Mandy McCarty
Violin

Mandy is former student of Fairview Music. She has studied classical violin under Clete Davis for over eight years and has performed with the DuPage Symphony. She received her Bachelors of Arts at Elmhurst College in 2006.

 

Mr. Matt Phelan
Guitar, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, and Banjo

Matt is currently pursuing his degree in Music at University of Illinois at Chicago. He has taught at Fairview Music for over eight years. He performs regularly with several local bands.

 

Mr. Ed Przyzycki
Piano

Ed Przyzycki, a Fairview Music alumnus under the tutelage of Mr. James Calderone, has been teaching piano/keyboard at Fairview Music since 1989. Ed received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Francis, studying music education, with an emphasis in technology and theory. Under the direction of Paul Wood (Cryin’ Shames, Les Paul Orchestra), Ed continued his appreciation and understanding of theory and composition. Writing jingles for clients such as Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, WGN Radio, a nationally televised TV show, and several multimedia projects, Ed understands the significance of music in today’s society. His educational style stresses the importance of basic music understanding (with an emphasis in theory and technology) in a fun and dynamic atmosphere.

 

Mr. Paul Schmitz
Classical Guitar, Guitar, and Bass Guitar

Paul is currently pursuing his Bachelors of Arts in Classical Guitar Performance from Columbia College in Chicago. He studied classical guitar in Spain under Norman Ruiz and Pepe Romero. His has performed in several master classes with Lily Afshar and Denis Azabagic. He performs as a session player as well as for local live performances in various rock bands. Paul has taught at Fairview Music for three years.

 

Mr. Christopher Siegel
Piano and Voice

Christopher received his Bachelors of Arts in Music and Education from Illinois State University in 2003. He has over 15 years of music education. He has directed and worked with several choral groups including Opera Illinois and American Choral Director’s Association. He has taught at Fairview Music for over four years.

 

Mr. Chris Sutor
Guitar and Bass Guitar

Chris received his Bachelors of Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2000. He has taught at Fairview Music for a combined seven years. Chris has worked for various projects including live performances and studio sessions in Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles.
